La diversidad cultural será tratada por el proyecto de la artista Gabriela Golder. La artista argentina junta en su proyecto “Arrorró”, canciones de cuna, ya que según ella, ofrecen una clave para la historia de vida de un hombre. “Arrorró” es el nombre de una canción de cuna argentina, de ahí deriva el nombre de este proyecto.

Inspired by “Around the World in 80 Days” The Ars Electronica Center has created “Linz09″ a journey around the world. Next stop: Buenos Aires, Argentina – Linz / Austria is. The theme: Cultural Diversity .

Cultural diversity is discussed with the project from artist Gabriela Golder. The argentine artist joins with her project “Arrorro”, lullabies, as she says, offer a key to the life story of men. “Arrorro” is the name of a traditional lullaby in spanish, hence the name derived from this project.

Pero también se especula que “Lullaby” puede provenir de “Lilith-bye” o “Lilith-Abi” (en hebreo, “Lilith, vete”).

Lilith es una figura legendaria del folclore judío de origen mesopotámico. Se la considera la primera esposa de Adán, anterior a Eva. Según la leyenda, abandonó el Edén por propia iniciativa y se convirtió en un súcubo, un demonio feminino que rapta a los niños en sus cunas por la noche, y que toma la forma de una mujer mui hermosa, generalmente pelirroja, que seduce a los hombres.
La gente creía que Lilith era responsable de la muerte repentina y inexplicable de los bebés (lo que actualmente llamamos “síndrome de muerte súbita”). En teoría, las madres cantaban a sus hijos en la noche para mantener a Lilith lejos, y la expresión “Lilith abi” era escrita en los amuletos que rodean la cuna.

Mágico o no, calmar un niño que llora ha sido una práctica desde la antigüedad en todo el mundo. La canción de cuna de las enfermeras romanas, “Lalla, Lalla, Lalla, aut dormi, aut lacte” se registra en un escolio a Persio y puede ser la más antigua a sobrevivir.

The English term lullaby is thought to come from ‘lu lu’ or ‘la la’ sound made by mothers or nurses to calm chidren, and ‘by’ or ‘bye bye’, either another lulling sound, or a term for good night.

It is also speculated that the term may come from “Lilith-bye” or “Lilith” Abi “(Hebrew for” Lilith, go “).

Lilith is a legendary figure of Jewish folklore of Mesopotamian origin. It is considered the first wife of Adam. According to legend, Lilith left the Garden of Eden on her own initiative and became a succubus, a feminine demon who kidnaps children in their cribs at night, and takes the form of a beautiful woman to seduce the men. People believed that Lilith was responsible for the sudden and unexplained death of infants (what we now call “sudden death syndrome”). In theory, mothers sang their children at night to keep Lilith away, and the term “abi Lilith” was often written on the amulet around his crib.

Magic or not to sleep calm a crying child has been in practice since ancient times worldwide. The Roman nurses’ lullaby ‘Lalla, Lalla, Lalla, aut dormi, aut lacte’ is recorded in a scholium on Persius and may be the oldest to survive.

Todavía recuerdo aquellos días, por diciembre de 2008; recién terminábamos de exponer “Variaciones (a través de una ventana)” en el Recoleta, una instalación que se logró con la dedicación y la experimentación de muchas personas, alumnos y docentes, día y noche si se quiere, y que incentivó a dar un paso más grande. Al poco tiempo, la convocatoria que, en manos de Gabriela, llega al aula, nos reúne una tarde y como el pequeño equipo que éramos en un comienzo, nos largamos a debatir y pensar. Los primeros bocetos, las primeras ideas, los primeros textos. Wireframes, poesías, propuestas gráficas, bosquejos en papel; el lenguaje no era único, y eso nos enriquecía. El tiempo pasaba y la noticia de que el proyecto había sido seleccionado finalmente, nos tomó por sorpresa. Pasó gran parte del verano, y a la distancia nos comunicábamos, pendientes de lo que pasaría a nuestro reencuentro en Marzo.

Desde entonces, la recolección de testimonios, y el trabajo constante en el desarrollo de las diferentes partes del proyecto, y de la difusión del mismo, no paraba de crecer.

Personalmente creo que fue una gran oportunidad para explotar lo que más me gusta hacer, fuera del campo institucional y académico, librado a otro tipo de crítica, y más allá de una práctica profesional.

Fueron seis meses, y un poco más, hasta que el 23 de Julio finalmente en el Centro Cultural Recoleta, tras superar todos los problemas que nunca hubiésemos pensado que nos pasarían, la convocatoria (y la conexión en vivo con Austria) resulta más que satisfactoria, resulta exitosa y estimulante, tanto que el proyecto no se estancaría en ese momento sino que comenzaría a tomar nuevas formas. Formas y caminos que empieza a recorrer hoy el equipo, que lleva una historia que contar y otra que se comienza a escribir.

I still remember those days, by December 2008, just finished our exhibit “Variations (through a window)” in the Recoleta, a facility that was achieved with the dedication and experimentation of many people, students and teachers, day and night if you like, and encouraged to take a bigger step. Soon, the call that in the hands of Gabriela, reaches the classroom, we met one afternoon and as the small team we were at the beginning, discuss and get the hell to think. The first sketches, the first ideas, the earliest texts. Wireframes, poetry, graphic proposals, sketches on paper, the language was not unique, and that enriches us. Time passed and the news that the project had finally been selected, it took us by surprise. He spent much of the summer, and the distance we communicated, awaiting what would happen to our reunion in March.

Since then the collection of evidence, and the ongoing work on developing different parts of the project, and the dissemination of it, never stopped growing.

Personally I think it was a great opportunity to exploit what I like best, outside of institutional and academic field, left to another kind of criticism, and beyond professional practice.

It took six months and a little more, until finally on July 23 at the Centro Cultural Recoleta, after overcoming all the problems that we had never thought we would the call (and the live connection with Austria) is more than satisfactory , is successful and stimulating, while the project does not stagnate at that time but beginning to take new forms. Forms and roads today starts to go through the team, which has a story to tell and one that is beginning to write.

She always used to sing this song to me as a child, “Rogue sleep” and I thought it was some sort of fish or bird, because of the intonation in the song. Very funny! ARRORRÓ made a recording in Bogota, Colombia. Esperanza Caycedo’s participation was special, not only for being a relative of a team member.
Esperanza – her name in spanish means hope – is the mother of two children who both love lullabies, possibly due to the enthusiasm and love that their mother put into singing to them.
His son Lewis, 26, who lives in the U.S., still asks his mother to sing lullabies on the phone. Her eldest daughter, Karen, 31, has a psychomotor disabillity. Esperanza explained that “music is very important for mentally challenged children, especially lullabies. They react to the music, making them feel in their world. They become happy and interact more with people. Karen listens lullabies every day.”

La semana pasada, gracias al apoyo, la gestión y al entusiasmo de Herbas de Prata (http://www.herbasdeprata.blogspot.com), asociación de mujeres gallegas (la unica asociación puramente femenina y gallega del mundo, fuera de Galicia), tuvimos un maravilloso acercamiento a la colectividad gallega en Buenos Aires.
El encuentro fue un fiesta, canciones, versos, anécdotas, historias, recuerdos, más canciones. Gracias.

Last week, with the support, management and the enthusiasm of Herbas de Prata (http://www.herbasdeprata.blogspot.com), an association of Galician women (the only association of purely feminine gallega world outside of Galicia) We had a wonderful approach to the galician community in Buenos Aires.
