Empezó como un proyecto para un festival austríaco de arte y tecnología y durante un año Gabriela Golder recopiló, grabó y subió a Internet todas las canciones de cuna que encontró. Pero cuando la página de Internet sumó la posibilidad de que cualquiera desde cualquier lugar del mundo hiciera lo mismo con un video, arrorrolullabies.com.ar se convirtió en algo increíble: un reservorio de mitos, historias, idiomas, músicas y sonidos que podían perderse u olvidarse para siempre.

Music soothes the beasts
It started as a project for Austrian festival of art and technology and for a year GabrielaGolder collected, recorded and up to the Internet all the lullabies he found. But when the website added the ability for anyone from anywhere in the world do the same with a video arrorrolullabies.com.ar became something incredible: a reservoir of myths,histories, languages​​, music and sounds that could be lost or forgotten forever.

Inspirados en el “La vuelta al mundo en 80 días“ el Centro Ars Electronica nos lleva, como parte de “Linz09″, en un viaje alrededor del mundo. Próxima parada: Buenos Aires, Argentina – Linz / Austria. El tema: Diversidad cultural .

La diversidad cultural será tratada por el proyecto de la artista Gabriela Golder. La artista argentina junta en su proyecto “Arrorró”, canciones de cuna, ya que según ella, ofrecen una clave para la historia de vida de un hombre. “Arrorró” es el nombre de una canción de cuna argentina, de ahí deriva el nombre de este proyecto.

Lullabies from near and far

Inspired by “Around the World in 80 Days” The Ars Electronica Center has created “Linz09″ a journey around the world. Next stop: Buenos Aires, Argentina – Linz / Austria is. The theme: Cultural Diversity .

Cultural diversity is discussed with the project from artist Gabriela Golder. The argentine artist joins with her project “Arrorro”, lullabies, as she says, offer a key to the life story of men. “Arrorro” is the name of a traditional lullaby in spanish, hence the name derived from this project.

Los días 23, 24, y 25 de Julio estaremos en el Centro Cultural Recoleta cantando en vivo hacia Linz, Austria. Los esperamos a partir de las 18.30hs.

El edificio del Centro, cuyo origen se remonta al siglo XVII, es una de las construcciones más antiguas que se conservan en Buenos Aires. En 1716 el Solar fue donado a los frailes Franciscanos Recoletos.

Los arquitectos jesuitas Juan Krauss y Juan Wolf realizaron los planos de la primera construcción y se le atribuye al italiano Andrés Blanqui la fachada y los espacios interiores del convento. La obra fue concluída en 1732.

A partir de las primeras décadas del siglo XIX el edificio tuvo varios destinos, entre ellos una escuela de dibujo creada por el Gral. Manuel Belgrano y, a partir de los años setenta funcionó en sus claustros el Asilo de Mendigos. El edificio y el área en general fueron lugares privilegiados dentro del plan de saneamiento y embellecimiento del primer Intendente de Buenos Aires, Torcuato de Alvear.

El arquitecto Juan Buschiazzo fue el responsable de la gran remodelación que se realizara a lo largo de la década del ochenta del siglo 19, reciclaje que puede considerarse pionero y uno de los mejores de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. El mismo incluyó, en el Centro Cultural la construcción de varios pabellones, la capilla, hoy transformada en auditorio, como así también fachadas, muros y terrazas de estilo italianizante.

Posteriormente se instaló en el edificio el Hogar de Ancianos General Viamonte.En 1980 se remodeló el complejo para su nueva función de Centro Cultural, tarea encomendada a los arquitectos Clorindo Testa, Jacques Bedel y Luis Benedit.

A place with history

The Center building, which dates back to the seventeenth century, is one of the oldest buildings preserved in Buenos Aires. In 1716 the Solar was donated to the Franciscan friars Recoletos.

Jesuit architects John Krauss and John Wolf made the first planes of the construction, and the italian Andrés Blanqui is responsible of the front of the building and the interior spaces of the convent. The work was completed in 1732.

Since the early decades of the nineteenth century the building had several uses, including a school of drawing created by Gral Manuel Belgrano, and from the seventies worked in their cloisters of Beggars Asylum. Such as the building as the whole area surrounding it were privileged places within the plan of sanitation and beautification of the first mayor of Buenos Aires, Torcuato de Alvear.

The architect John Buschiazzo was responsible for the big restore that will be held throughout the eighties of the 19th century and it is considered pioneer recycling and one of the best in the city of Buenos Aires. It included building several pavilions, a chapel, now converted into an auditorium, as well as facades, walls and terraces of Italianate style.

Later it also took place int the building the Nursing Home General Viamonte.In 1980 the complex was remodeled for its new role as cultural center, a task entrusted to architects Clorindo Testa, Jacques Bedel, Luis Benedit.

La escuela Islands International School del barrio de Belgrano, está participando en el proyecto 80+1.
Convocada desde la Universidad Maimónides, esta escuela está trabajando en el marco de este concurso en un proyecto llamado FOOD IS GOOD!?!.
ARS ELECTRONICA, les ha asignado como destino de su viaje virtual a un grupo de alumnos de la Bundeshandelsakademie, o Escuela Comercial, de Steyr, la más grande de Alta Austria.
Se ha preparado un emocionante y divertido “duelo de cocineros televisivos” en el cual los alumnos austríacos cocinarán un plato tipico argentino y los alumnos de Buenos Aires harán lo mismo con uno austríaco.
Cada grupo irá dando instrucciones al otro para la preparación. Entonces, se les ofrecerá a transeúntes tanto en Linz como en Buenos aires la posibilidad de probar el plato cocinado y dar su veredicto. ¡Buen provecho!

Islands International School, is located in Buenos Aires city. The students are participaiting in 80+1 project.
Maimonides University has invited this school and now they are working in an special project called FOOD IS GOOD!?!
ARS ELECTRONICA connected Islands International School with the Bundeshandelsakademie, a commercial school located in Steyr, Austria.
Both groups of students are preparing a funny ” cooking show ” where the argentinian students are going to cook austrian food and the students in Linz are going to cook typical argentinian food.
People in both countries at the same time will be able to taste the food.  Bon Appetit!
